Meet LOKI: an ultra-portable and versatile Shoulder Rig
If you’re a videographer that shoots with a DSLR camera, you can’t survive without a decent shoulder rig. Shoulder rigs are essential to achieve stable shots when shooting handheld video.
A downside to most shoulder rigs that are on the market nowadays, is that they’re not exactly easy to travel with. That’s where LOKI comes in.
LOKI is a compact and very portable camera rig, that can be used in many ways. Folded down, it’s small enough to fit into a regular camera bag.
Once you’re ready to shoot, you can easily and quickly transform it into either a shoulder rig, a camera cage, an underslung rig or even a dolly.
Serrated steel locking plates on all the articulated joints allow for a sturdy construction that can carry a camera system of up to 20 kg.
“Life happens quickly, and it’s important to be able to respond accordingly and not waste time moving your camera between different rigs and then setting them up before filming. LOKI adapts to you, not the other way around.” explains creator, Matt Marais.
So will LOKI become the only camera rig you ever need? We’ll have to wait and see for that, but it definitely looks like a very promising piece of gear. It will be especially usefully for videographers that travel a lot.
